The “R”s of Unpaid Care

In 2009, the feminist economist Diane Elson suggested three “R”s to address women’s unfair share of unpaid care work: recognise, reduce and redistribute. Since then, the “R”s have been a valuable organizing frame for change. However, other institutions and advocates have tinkered with the “R”s, adding important new dimensions to the change agenda.
